So first off, let me start by apologizing.

We sort of neglecting things for a while. Me and the other dev's sort of went off on our own adventures for a while. Winamp went through a few upgrades, which has left akdj broken with winamp since 5.24. Sporadically it would work for some of you, and others it would not (like me harping on folks to look for the ML folder) After a good amount of testing with Zug the other night, we found a multitude of bugs and incompatibilities that are going to start being addressed.

There has been an issue with seemingly random crashes during song changes for a while. It's caused when akdj writes out a users history file, so this pre-release contains an option for disabling histories. I'm running it now, so I can't comment till after this week if it works or not, but all signs point to yes.

New Server

So our webhost gave us the promise of being able to host multiple domains on one account if we just moved to a new server.

After the move there was a ton of broken stuff. It took a few emails back and forth to the support crew at he.net to get things kind of back to normal, but for the most part we're back. Sorry for the weeks of inconvenience, but I've been sort of lazy lately.

Yeah, and I'm not overly enthused but hell, this strike had to end sometime.

So how long did I keep autokdj pulled is anyone's guess. Fubar and I patiently waited in chat for folks to show up, hang out, say hi or whatever.  Mostly we got a lot of begging "OH PLEASE GIVE US THE NEW FRONTEND!" or we got a lot of hate, like one person "I'M NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!" (That particular person ended up coming back the next day) I had a magic number set for how long I would like to see just one person idle in the chat room.  7 days.  7 days to leave a chat client open to our little chat room.

I guess that was to much for everyone.

There was a new version of winamp released that broke the media library *AGAIN*.  Despite our best attempts at giving folks IRC support, nobody could figure out how to go to c:\program files\winamp\plugins\ml to delete the main.dat and main.idx files in order to get winamp to start without crashing.  Yes folks, autokdj works just FINE if you apply the fix I just suggested.

Time to put the pressure on Nullsoft.

So after many years of nagging, the default file format for non tagged media might change in Winamp.  I nagged some of the Nullsoft folks the other day, and customizable metadata dectection mode has been added to the top of the ML wishlist.
I've started this thread for discussion of the planned feature. Feel free to jump in.

Singer Histories

Type in the singers name and hit "History Webpage".  The entire singers history is displayed. The singers history is used to select "Random from history" and "Favorite from History" as well.

Web Based playlist screen

With autokdj running, you can access the playlist on another machine on your network.  http://serverip:port/kcombo from any web browser.  (Make sure you check what port it's running from the general configuration tab.)
